The False Messiah

Inspired by Byzantine-era artwork, I crafted a personal interpretation that incorporates elements from the Gospel about prophets disguised as the Messiah or similar figures. Referencing Matthew 7:15-20 — "Beware of false prophets! They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves" — I portray an anthropomorphic wolf, predominantly black to symbolize sin, greed, and ferocity, holding a lamb gently between its paws. The image serves as a metaphor for the deception of false prophets who appear benign but harbor malice and corruption, resembling a good shepherd while leading the faithful astray. My work aims to remind viewers to be vigilant and discerning in recognizing genuine spiritual guides amidst deception.
