Matera

This painting is an abstract representation of the city of Matera, known for its ancient cave dwellings, the \"Sassi\". The artwork uses a soft color palette dominated by shades of gray, white, black and hints of yellow-green, creating an ethereal and atmospheric effect. The composition is composed of overlapping and intersecting lines that suggest a dense and labyrinthine arrangement of buildings, windows and stairs, capturing the unique structure of the historical landscape of Matera.
The use of a mixed technique gives the painting an expressive and rough character, the thin black lines emphasize the organic and historical character of the city, evoking its centuries-old architecture carved into the rock. The painting gives an impression of timelessness, as if Matera emerged from the fog or memory, reinforcing its mystical and ancient aura. The fusion of colors and textures also suggests the natural erosion and erosion of stone structures over time.
