Major Edmund Hewlett version white cat furry Turn Washington's Spies

art digital, 2025

Another anthropomorphic animal character in action, but this time it's not one of my original characters (OC). It's a real character from the TV series TURN: Washington's Spies, which I'll definitely add to my to-watch list. You should too, if you want! Could you describe Major Edmund Hewlett?
??????? Who is Major Edmund Hewlett?
Role: Major Edmund Hewlett is a British Army officer in TURN: Washington's Spies, played by actor Burn Gorman.
Role: He commanded the garrison of Setauket, New York, during the American Revolutionary War until 1778.
Nickname: Known behind his back as "The Oyster Major," a testament to his reserved, cultured, and somewhat eccentric personality.
Personality: Hewlett is described as cultured, disciplined, and loyal to the Crown.  Unlike many of his fellow officers, he is less brutal and more principled, often demonstrating a sense of fairness and moderation.
Relationships: He had a complicated relationship with Anna Strong, a local woman, and was once engaged to her. His personal life often clashed with his military duties.
Appearance: He is usually seen in British dress uniform. Dignified and formal, he embodies the image of a stern yet thoughtful officer.
Story Arc: Over the course of the series' four seasons, Hewlett evolves from a rigid commander to a more nuanced figure, caught between loyalty to Britain and the reality of colonial resistance.
???? Why He Stands Out
Hewlett is not your typical villain; he is portrayed with depth and humanity, making him one of the most empathetic British characters in the series.
His intellectual nature and moral dilemmas add tension and complexity to the spy drama.
It represents the conflicting loyalties of the Revolutionary War, proving that not all Redcoats were cruel caricatures.
???? What is an Original Character (OC)?
Definition: An Original Character (OC) is a character invented by an author, artist, or fan, not from an existing official work.
Characteristics:
It has its own name, personality, and appearance.
It may live in a universe created by the author or be a Featured Character in an existing world (for example, an original character created for the Harry Potter or Pokémon universe).
It often reflects the interests, identity, or creativity of its creator.
Common Use:
In fandoms, original characters are shared in fanart, fanfiction, role-playing games, and online communities.
They are a way to express oneself, explore themes, and create new stories.
?? Complete answer:An original character (OC) is a character invented by you or another creator, not officially part of a series, film, book, or video game. It is a personal creation, with unique traits, that can be used to tell stories, create illustrations, or enrich narrative universes.
???? The TV series TURN: Washington's Spies
Genre: Historical drama and espionage.
Production: Aired from 2014 to 2017 on AMC, based on the book Washington's Spies: The Story of America's First Spy Ring by Alexander Rose.
