BOUND , ARIANNA DE BLANCK.

A material-based artwork composed of heterogeneous elements assembled on a deep black background, conceived as a space of containment and suspension.
At the center of the composition, a blue shoe is presented as a symbolic object, stripped of its original function. Beside it lies a partially burned book, reduced to a material trace of its former content, where language has transformed into a charred surface and a fragile memory.
The entire structure is bound by threads and raw jute, which traverse and tighten the elements without decorative intent, but as a force of constraint and as a means of imposed relationships between parts. The natural fibers become a device of connection and control, emphasizing the work’s internal tension.
Irregular traces of red pigment emerge across the surface, like organic residue or the sign of an event that cannot be fully read, introducing an emotional and latent component without direct narrative reference.
The black base acts as an absolute ground, erasing context and isolating the objects in a suspended, almost archaeological dimension.
BOUND explores the concepts of constraint, transformation, and loss of function, where objects no longer speak of what they were, but of what they have become in the moment they are held in place.
