Formazione

Van Kaemis is the architectural studio of Enrico Thanhoffer, an Italian architect, urban planner, and contemporary artist. His research focuses on Symbiotic Architecture and the radical fusion between anthropic structures and natural or biological elements.

Thanhoffer studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano and served as a technical urban planner for the Municipality of Como, before establishing the digital and design ecosystem Spheropolis.

Characteristics of his art and vision:His works, expressed primarily through sophisticated digital renderings, sculptures, and conceptual projects visible on platforms such as Gigarte, follow several theoretical paths:

  • The Tree-Idol Archetype: Structures in which the trunk and branches become the load-bearing and generative axis of the building itself, moving beyond the traditional concept of "vertical greenery" to create genuine living organisms.

  • Subtractive and Organic Tectonics: Frequently abandoning industrial geometric rigidity in favor of fluid forms that evoke osteomorphism (bone-like structures) and coral-like architectures.

  • Modularism and Color-Blocking: Experiments with the grafting of material geometric blocks—resembling mineral crystals or fungi—that grow upon the "bark" of the structure, alternating raw concrete with expressionist chromatic contrasts.
